Long Haul is a mid-tempo indie-pop track that Australian singer-songwriter Sidney wrote early in a relationship when she was full of hope, but already carrying weight. Inspired by Holly Humberstone and The Japanese House, the song builds into a driving chorus that that mirrors the emotional momentum at its core: that feeling of showing up again and again, even when things are hard.
Of her new single, Sidney shares: “I was travelling constantly for work and loving what I was doing, but I couldn’t bring my partner with me. We were fighting a lot. I wanted him to celebrate the wins with me, and I felt guilty for being away, even though I wasn’t going anywhere emotionally. ‘Long Haul’ was my way of reassuring him – and maybe myself – that I was all in.”
The singing has a strong presence throughout. And every note lands perfectly, if I may say so. Sidney truly knows how to articulate herself.
