There’s a podcast called Strangers on a Bench, created by Tom Rosenthal, where he has hour-long anonymous conversations with strangers. At the end of each episode, a musician writes a song inspired by that conversation.
For Episode 54, Fairhazel was asked to write a song based on a chat with an older man reflecting on his life, the passing of time, and facing death. He talked about a service where a harpist comes to play for people in hospice during their final days. The conversation stayed with Fairhazel, and Send In The Harpist was born from it.
The acoustic version of the song features soft, fingerpicked guitar patterns that contribute to a calm, reflective atmosphere. Fairhazel’s singing is tender and emotive, drawing everyone into the story.
