Rachel Bochner’s decision to revisit Your Manhattan with this “googlyfied” remix featuring googly eyes is the type of creative risk that pays off handsomely. More than simply slapping on a few production tweaks and calling it a day, Bochner has fundamentally reimagined the track’s energy while maintaining the DNA that made the original resonate.
Bochner shows here that she’s not content to rest on past successes. She’d rather pull them apart, see what makes them tick, and rebuild them into something that challenges both herself and her listeners. More artists should be this brave with their catalog.
