Drawing inspiration from the sophisticated melodicism of William Sheller, the genre-fluid boldness of Harry Styles, and the introspective soul of Frank Ocean, French singer-songwriter Mila Auguste has established a distinctive space in the electro-pop landscape.
Her latest single, SOEUR, is a love letter to the bonds that hold us together when everything else feels uncertain. The lyrics are powerful, in my opinion. They carry real truths.
The production, led by Polerik Rouvière, showcases his deep understanding of what makes pop music work. The arrangement is sophisticated enough to reward repeat listens, but engaging enough to grab you on first contact. Those funk-inflected guitar lines weave through the mix in an unstoppable manner, while the contagious bass work provides an irresistible foundation that anchors the song’s more ethereal moments.
