Hallie Grace is an indie-pop singer-songwriter regularly inspired by artists such as Sara Bareilles, Maggie Rogers, and Taylor Swift. She releases her new single, Toxic, It’s about the slow accumulation of disappointment in a relationship, the exhaustion of making yourself small to keep the peace, and the rage that finally surfaces when you realize none of it mattered. You were still treated like you didn’t deserve better.
As Taylor Swift once put it, “No one likes a mad woman… you made her like that.” Toxic embodies that exact sentiment.
The track marks a shift on Grace’s upcoming album. While earlier songs were written during times of high motivation, Toxic was written during times of vulnerability.. However, the instrumental is still pretty much upbeat.
Grace continues to make phenomenal music. Check out Toxic below!
