KAY BRETTE is a compelling singer-songwriter whose Alberta prairie roots echo through the music she now makes in Vancouver. She recently shared The Mess & The Martyr, which details the journey she underwent to discover and dismantle an unhealthy martyr-ism within her. The lyrics feel so real. BRETTE continues to write at the top of her game.
I enjoy the arrangement here. Driven by organic rock-like instruments, everything flows smoothly. The vocals sound memorable, in part because of their genuineness.
