Here’s the thing about a magnum opus. The term gets thrown around loosely, attached to records that are ambitious but not quite fully realized. Jon von Boehm’s fourth studio album Reflections earns the description honestly.

The Nashville bassist and composer has spent years building toward something like this, refining his craft, assembling his community, and developing the kind of artistic confidence that permits you to make something unique and entirely uncompromising without blinking. Reflections is the culmination of all of that. A ten-track masterclass in modern fusion that refuses to stagnate.

The bass work is, predictably, extraordinary. But what elevates Reflections beyond a solo showcase is the ensemble around it. Be ready to hear some incredible drums, guitars, keys, saxophone, and vocals from Aly Cutter.

The album opens with Not Today, a statement of intent that establishes the cinematic scope of everything that follows. Spin To Win arrives next, the lengthiest of the opening stretch, restless and driven. Long Days and Lucky Me shift the mood again entirely. Then comes The Higher End, a forty-five-second interlude that provides breathing room before Professor of Pettiness immediately makes itself known as compelling and distinctive. A Blink for a Blink continues with a brooding intensity, leading into Airtight, the arguably boldest piece on the record. Forget About Your Warm Up pushes forward with a propulsive energy that feels almost confrontational, before The Struggle concludes the project perfectly.

We can all agree that Jon delivers here on a whole different level. Check out Reflections below!
