LA indie-pop artist Madeline kicks off 2026 with Out of Us. The song talks about wanting everything from love while it slowly empties you out, and the terrifying moment you realize both of those things have been true the whole time.
The lyrics know exactly where the pain hides. In the missteps you catalogued without meaning to. The short breaths. The things said to forget that refuse to stay forgotten. Do you remember them now? Of course you do. You both do. That’s the sort of cruelty of it.
The production sounds amazing. There’s a lushness here that never tips into excess because producer Austin Ward ((Willow Avalon, G-Eazy, UMI) and Madeline build space around the emotion rather than filling it, which lets the vulnerability flourish.
Go listen to Out of Us below. It holds the a feeling most songs don’t have the patience for.
