The thing about guilt is this. It’s easy to turn within to blame yourself for feeling powerless while the people who actually hold the power face no accountability at all. South London artist Cheska Moore noticed that contradiction, sat with it, and wrote Rotten Fruit, one of the most politically charged songs she’s ever created.
Rotten Fruit is extraordinary musically. Its sweeping cinematic dark pop textures, traditional folk and Celtic influences, and reminiscences of vintage Disney soundtracks will mesmerize you. The vocals are steady throughout.
