Marika Che’s Jasmine appears on her debut album Bright Flame. Its lyrics are an amalgam of mundane thoughts and bittersweet recollections, written during golden hour on the freeway between her own house and her boss’ house in Griffith. They’re wonderful, bringing reality to the forefront.
The production is rooted in acoustic elements, which create an intimate atmosphere. The vocals sound excellent because they soar above the accompaniment without a hitch. Appreciating them isn’t difficult.
