Writing a breakup song without pointing fingers requires a certain level of maturity. Lunar Bird has it, and The Things We Used To comes from it. The track captures the often underexamined space between moving on and accepting that certain emotions never fully vanish.
Lunar Bird’s dream-pop instincts are evident here, with gentle synths and jangling guitars fusing into each other and a subtle psychedelic haze that makes everyone pause. The vocals sound wonderful all the way through.
