Family Worship Center is a rock-and-soul commune born in Nashville, Tennessee and reborn in Portland, Oregon. They recently released Total Monet as part of their new album, Only visiting. It talks about the beautiful lie of nostalgia, and about looking back at a relationship and seeing something luminous, until you step closer, and the brushstrokes fall apart.
I love the full-blown orchestral production here, with big strings sweeping beneath a big horn section. The scale of the arrangement doesn’t overwhelm the intimacy of the lyric, but rather honors it, because sometimes a feeling is just that large and a whole band is all it needs.
Family Worship Center truly impress with Total Monet. Check it out below!
