Recently, Los Angeles-based alt-pop artist Makena released her most vulnerable track to date, titled Lacey’s Song. Inspired by the loss of her boyfriend’s sister before they ever met, the song explores the complicated grief of mourning someone you’ve only come to know through the stories and memories left behind. The lyrics are so beautiful.
The production is fairly stripped-back, with guitar, a poppy beat, and warm harmonies mixing together. The main vocal is impactful from the moment it kicks in.
