Hudson Valley artist Aubrey Haddard opens her new EP Drift Theory with Got Yours, which straddles organic and digital. Guitars and analog synths trade off throughout, but never quite compete, more like two different languages describing the same feeling. That feeling, it turns out, is disorientation, when identity and reality lose their shape.
Haddard’s vocals are the anchor here, intimate enough to keep the song from drifting too far into abstraction, even as the production pulls toward something more atmospheric.
