Earlier this year, rising singer-songwriter Sam Blaire shared her dreamy synth-driven single, Morning Comes. It explores the collision between romantic fantasy and the harsh clarity of daylight. Born from an attempt to process a toxic relationship, the song follows a couple who lose themselves in late-night parties, loud music, drinks, and fleeting intimacy. In the darkness, their relationship feels cinematic and carefree, giving them a temporary escape from inevitable problems.
When the night fades, so does the illusion they created around one another, revealing only the tension and distance they were trying to forget. There’s still a longing for those brief moments of intimacy and reckless freedom, but the song gradually strips away the nostalgia. By its final moments, Blaire arrives at the painful realization that the person she thought she loved lived mostly within the fantasy they created together.
