London-based singer-songwriter Alicia Clifford reveals a darker, more emotional side on her new single, Torn. Inspired by seeing someone you once loved move on, the song explores heartbreak, uncertainty, and acceptance. While rooted in the end of a relationship, its themes extend beyond romance, reflecting the challenge of letting go and wishing someone happiness, even when you’re no longer part of their future.
The accompanying music video shot by Canopy Visuals was filmed inside the iconic Barbican launderette and around Brick Lane, using washing cycles and vintage clothing as visual metaphors for washing away the past, healing, and moving on.
The production here sounds fantastic, which is driven by gritty guitar and typical pop drums. The vocals are very convincing, especially during the bridge, where their energy level builds up nicely.
Alicia is one of the best artists of the moment. She knows exactly what a song needs. Torn will end up on repeat for many people, and completely deservedly so. Check it out below!
