Ellie Temple is an indie artist from Philadelphia who recently released her new single, Pity Party, produced by none other than Tiger Darrow. It features heartfelt lyrics about growing up and grieving the person you thought you’d be and the life you thought you’d live. It’s a sentiment that feels all too familiar.
I like the arrangement here, which mixes more common pop elements with less common ones, such as saxophone and violin. The vocals never feel too theatrical, making them all the more convincing.
