Nashville-based genre-bending artist, songwriter, and producer Stacey Kelleher is on the verge of breaking out. Her latest release, spurs, takes a playful approach to catching a cheater red-handed, using a classic cowboy proverb as its central idea. The song keeps a sarcastic tone throughout, bringing fun to an otherwise messy situation.
I really like the production here, with shining pedal steel, a bouncing bass groove, and plenty of stacked background vocals. It gives spurs that classic country sound while keeping the energy fresh.
