Last week, San Diego-based musician Brianna Grace released her new single, I’m Not Jolene. The song takes inspiration from Dolly Parton’s classic Jolene, but looks at the story from the other woman’s perspective. To avoid becoming the Jolene in another’s relationship, Brianna makes the decision to step away from it.
The song has a nostalgic pop-punk sound from the early 2000s, with catchy guitar playing that immediately makes you imagine driving through the city with your friends and playing the music at maximum volume. The vocals are great, and their vibe can’t be matched.
Brianna seems to be in her element here. Jolene stands out from the start to the end. Check it out below!
