Maddie Regent, born and raised in Toronto and now living in Los Angeles, is a pop singer and songwriter who writes compelling songs where romance, fear, fantasy, and heartbreak come together. Last Friday, she shared Lizzy. It follows her doing everything she can to convince herself that she hates someone she clearly cannot stay away from. From showing up at a party she had sworn not to go to the confession: “I’m trying my best to hate you, baby / I hate to say it, but I can’t,” the song unfolds as a romantic comedy about enemies who eventually fall in love with each other, in real time.
Lizzy gets everything right on the melodic front. Maddie’s vocals give the track another boost, particularly during its standout chorus.
Maddie shows exactly why she’s an artist worth getting to know through Lizzy. There’s a lot to like about what she’s bringing to the table. Start listening below!
