With Never Truly Alone, Haløver and her long time producer and collaborator Jiroe give us a dark pop single that’s as striking as it’s catchy. It begins very minimalistically, relying solely on percussion. As the song moves forward, new sounds emerge. The sections differ enough to keep you interested at all times. In her performance, Haløver truly captures the meaning of each word she sings.
This tune talks about the struggle of being alone with yourself and accepting your own thoughts and shortcomings when there’s no one around to listen to you. Haløver comments: “I wrote Never Truly Alone during lockdown when I had no choice but to be by myself at home. I didn’t want to deal with what was going on in my head at that time and it was making me feel miserable. Instead of working through it I turned to every possible distraction to quiet it down.” She adds: “There is a famous saying “We’re born alone, we live alone, we die alone” which I paraphrased and changed to “Never Truly Alone” meaning that we always have ourselves to turn to in difficult times and it’s more than enough”
Haløver is taking over the pop scene. Her aspirations are high. Check out Never Truly Alone below!
