Grace Joyner’s latest release Lovers Do is about the feelings that come with unrequited love. The lyrics explore the idea of possibilities, and how love can be felt strongly but never realized. According to Grace, there are times when a relationship seems to have potential but doesn’t work out for whatever reason. The juxtaposition of instruments in the song reflect the state of these types of relationships- promising and full of uncertainty at the same time.
In Lovers Do, Grace shows fans another side of herself. What I appreciate most about this song is her ability to be so vulnerable and genuine. She doesn’t shy away from acknowledging the complexity of love.
