It’s all too familiar: that hazy feeling when looking back at the past and the memories that stick. You remember things one way, but then you have flashbacks or a different perspective that throws everything off balance. It’s unsettling and confusing, not to mention frustrating. Waves of emotion can come crashing over you, making it hard to breathe.
Dana Gavanski is an artist who finds comfort in writing nostalgic stories. Her newest single, Under the Sky, exemplifies just that. The song talks about being retrospective and wondering what really happened. It’s innocent and love-y sounding, but also plaintive and questioning. This dichotomy helps explain what makes the song so powerful; it stirs up a range of emotions within the listener.
