When I listened to Highscores by British band Overboard, I couldn’t help but think about how often we are in over our heads when going through major changes in our lives. It seems like every time we make a decision to try something new, or go after what we want, the stakes get higher and the pressure intensifies. In this song, the lead singer of Overboard examines his journey through a difficult period of his life. He was overwhelmed with doubt and uncertainty, but he pushed through it and ended up succeeding. The takeaway from the song is that you have to be willing to put yourself out there and risk failure in order to achieve your goals. You can’t be afraid of failing or making a mistake, because those are the things that will help you learn and grow.
