The plight of the introvert is one that continues to stand the test of time. In love, social anxiety has little room; and yet, it overwhelms love with its suffocating, agonizing grip. What Canadian artist Lennie Rayen has done to counteract this chokehold with her latest single, Waste Your Time, may be the best way to deal with anything so complicated: write a damn good song about it. The songbird herself claimed that she looks at the song as catharsis for her social anxiety. Rayen says when she begins to feel that dreadful pit in her gut, she “wants to be around someone who makes [her] feel comfortable.” Beautifully crafted with sweet, pure vocals and straightforward instrumentals, Waste Your Time is gentle in its delivery, but solid in its character. It’s the lovesick song for the nervous girl with a broken heart and so much more to give. Lennie Rayen has given us a friend in Waste Your Time to lean on.
