Maddie Ettrich’s new single, Everybody Loves Cake, tells the story of a toxic ex who crashes their former partner’s birthday party. And as you might expect, things don’t go well.
The lyrics are really clever and pack a lot of punch. For example, take a look at this line: “I don’t remember giving you an invention/But you walk in like you deserve a standing ovation.”
I think everyone can relate to this song to some extent. We’ve all been in that situation where we have to deal with an ex who’s still trying to cause trouble.
Maddie’s vocals are well-controlled and she demonstrates good pitch accuracy throughout the song. She also uses several singing techniques in order to make her performance more engaging.
