Berlin-based singer-songwriter Emina Sonnad releases her new single, Transatlantic. It has alt-pop instrumentation that never reaches the point of becoming wildly energetic, but is nonetheless detailed enough to be fascinating. I particularly enjoy the way the piano produces soulful undertones. Emina steals the show with her clear voice.
This song was written during a 10-hour flight. Despite Emina’s best efforts, she couldn’t get her brain to switch off by watching movies on board or reading books. All she could do was stare out the window, try not to cry, and let the words sort themselves out in her head. She walked into the bathroom a few times to whisper the melody into her voice notes so she wouldn’t forget.
