Electronic pop duo Beck Pocket release their new single, gold. It’s built around abstract synths, hyperactive bass lines, and poppy melodies. Although the production sounds experimental, it has enough catchiness to be unforgettable. The vocals cruise through the backdrop better than expected, allowing the flow to be maintained.
The lyrics are thoughtful here. Inspired by the duo’s shared retrospection, gold explores the past while wrestling with the push-and-pull of redefining yourself through adulthood, questioning what to give up.
