meadowhip is the slinky solo project of Australian singer/songwriter/poet Cara Walkam. She released her new single, David. It recalls Cary Grant’s golden age. Bossa nova-influenced rhythms underpin the sound. Bouncing nylon stringed guitar notes ascend above them for greater movement.
David reflects on love, rejection, and despair. It fulfills all the requirements of a compelling storyline. Lines like, “Yeah I know / I have noticed / What he’s doing / But I’m lonely” are delivered with lighthearted intensity.
