New York-based singer-songwriter Shane Rennison has a dedicated following, and for good reason. He makes music that clings to you like a magnet. Things are poppy, but also thoughtful across the board. In other words, there’s much to discover on both a sonic and lyrical basis when listening.
Shane has freshly released his highly anticipated debut album, Irrational. Here, he tries to welcome you to an alternate universe, where stars become champions. Shane’s wholehearted lyrics form the emotional core of the project, establishing a strong bond with you. Under Julian Giaimo’s expert production, every track gratifies, swimmingly shifting between contrasting soundscapes, securing you remain occupied during the musical voyage.
All The Scars kicks off Irrational. It talks about Shane’s insecurity as a newcomer to NYC. Everything was unfamiliar, which brought fears. You might recognize yourself in the lyrics.
Another banger on the project is I Think It’s You. Shane recounts his emotional turmoil following a breakup. Smart key structures and soft drums propel the song forward. What You Need To Know caught my attention, too. A cool main melody parades through. Too Beautiful features some catchy textures that make it unparalleled.
The title track talks about how irrational actions can affect relationships. Sharp lines form a cogent story. Buoyant guitars round out the production nicely. The vocals are also well done.
I have nothing but positive things to say about this project. Shane uses his inspiration to conjure up magic. Check out Irrational below!
