Acclaimed Montréal-based folk-pop musician Geneviève Racette releases her new single, Instagram. She muses on the pressure to present a faultless curated image of her life online, in spite of facing obstacles and insecurities behind the scenes. She compares herself to others, feeling inadequate when measuring up to the seemingly exemplar lives displayed everywhere.
Instagram takes influences from country and a bit of indie pop. I like the motion set by the guitar patterns. The rhythm foundation provides the illusion of momentum. Racette’s vocals sound heartfelt, circling like ballroom dancers.
