London-based Bertie Newman and Nashville singer-songwriter Savanna Leigh and released their new single, what’s not mine. It unpacks the ways we protect love by covering it up… hiding the truth, denying the mess. But real connection requires honesty, even when it’s uncomfortable.
On bringing Savanna into the project, Newman shares, “I’d written the bare bones of a song that I thought would sound perfect with another voice. I had been following Savanna for a while and loved her music, so I reached out and realised she was already coming to London to write. We finished writing and recording it there!”
I love the guitar arrangement throughout the song because it reflects musicality. While it may seem simple, it works well. The vocals are brilliantly matched by their energy.
