Queens-based singer-songwriter project Sweetbreads release their new single, Punisher of Love. It talks about being painfully aware that you fall too hard, too fast, and for all the wrong reasons and still doing it anyway.
Stolpp’s vocals sit right in that sweet spot between “I’m being brave by telling you this” and “I will absolutely text you again in 12 minutes.”. The band backs this up with an almost suspicious amount of joy. There’s a gnarly bass line from Margaux Bouchegnies, huge drums from Jordan Wolff, gently unhinged pedal steel from James Woodall, and enough guitars (from Quinn Devlin and Nick Watt) to convince you this is a road trip song.
If you like artists like Chappell Roan, Waxahatchee, or Julien Baker, you already know the energy of Punisher of Love.: big feelings, pretty sounds, no apologies. Check it out below!
