A leading player in the alt-pop arena in recent years, Housewife (Brighid Fry) continues to rise with Life Of The Party, her new single. Energetic guitars fuel the instrumental’s momentum. I love how the other alt-pop aspects interact with the main theme and make the whole stronger. The vocals are fun to listen to, and get more intense during the chorus.
Life Of The Party talks about cognitive dissonance, specifically the contrast between how people perceive Housewife’s life as a musician, versus the internal feelings and experiences she actually has. Basically, this track functions as a self-pity fest that allows the singer-songwriter to expose her inner emotions, in spite of external assumptions of confidence and glamour.
