Miist is an artist with multiple awards. She shows off her best side on her debut album, The Songs from the Living Room. It has a degree of complexity, but always prioritizes catchiness. This results in very layered songs that have a solid core.
Overall the album talks about how Miist experienced her musical journey so far, and the things and people she cares about. The topics are very widespread. Misst also wants people to feel at ease, so she approaches everything with some form of optimism.
I’d now like to continue by naming a number of individual songs that have me in their grip. Let the Music Fill You, featuring Karl Perzzao, is excellent, for example. It takes the most delicious flavors of Latin music and throws a funky sauce on top. Remember Me Again is much poppier with a structured beat. Love Them Away finishes the project on a classical note. It may bring a few tears to your eyes. I love how the emotional piano arrangement rolls through the passage while thoughtful lyrics are added. Magical, if you ask me.
Miist goes against everything that’s been done and follows her own intuition. You can tell she thoroughly enjoyed the making process. And let that be the most significant factor. Isn’t that what it’s all about? I think Miist has every reason to be happy. She possesses enough new material to fill entire performances. People will have the time of their lives.
