Norwegian/Scottish duo Amilost have returned from holiday. They’re hoping to make this month memorable for music. Their new single, Tiny War, sounds terrific. Ethereal strings flit in and out of the soundscape like winter winds passing through open windows. I love how the vocals change according to the context.
Tiny War can be seen as a commentary on the aftermath of a breakup. It points out the struggle of one party in a relationship who exhausts all efforts to salvage the bond, even to the point of losing their self-awareness in the process. Eventually, the realization dawns that no matter the attempts to hold on, letting go becomes the only path forward, signifying the acceptance of the end of the relationship.
