Lonely Dirt Road tells the story of Dax’s discovery of himself. The song gets its inspiration from the long mental health walks he has been taking over 15 years in Missoula. It’s on these solitary excursions that Dax finds solace and perspective, using the environment around him to escape from the demons and doubts that often plague his mind. Through his intimate lyrics, Dax aims to let others know that they aren’t by themselves in their quest toward peace and self-acceptance.
Sonically, Lonely Dirt Road has a unique ambiance. Dax really belts out those vocals over a beat that’s pretty low-key at first but definitely makes you pay attention. The catchy chorus is built for replay value. No wonder Lonely Dirt Road is already a fan favorite.
