Brighton and South London-based duo CATBEAR release their new single, Carry On. Within the song, there’s a recognition of various hardships and emotional battles. Despite these things, resilience persists, captured in the refrain “For all we’ve done and what we’ve lost before, we will carry on.” This emphasizes a determination to stay optimistic, regardless of past losses or setbacks.
Atmospheric darkwave tones allow you to float between the past and the present, with a good rhythm and no disappointments. I appreciate how the chorus, by keeping just the right balance, manages to linger in your head. The vocals are good at communicating emotion, literally doing so all the time.
