Up-and-coming Hamburg-based band Baydream has been steadily building buzz in the indie scene lately with their songwriting and cross-genre sound. While previous releases showed flashes of their potential, Punk House feels like a breakthrough that could potentially take them to the top.
Drawing influences from indie rock, pop, alternative hip-hop, soul, and post-punk, the EP ebbs and flows with different energies. Tracks such as the infectious Blockbuster encourage swinging cause of its upbeat tones, while other songs like Seasons | Powers allow for more introspective moments to meditate. Bydream really carved out time to refine their sound in the studio, and those efforts paid off in the cohesion and vibrancy of the new material. You’ll instantly become a fan.
The lyrics of Punk House explore questions of purpose and direction, and vulnerability as a source of strength. Each song functions as a chapter, sharing insight into the band’s world and the emotions they experience on a daily basis.
If Punk House is any indication, Baydream seems poised to become one of the leaders in pushing boundaries between styles in independent music. The EP proves they have the aptitude, creative vision, and work ethic to excite listeners.
