Singer/songwriter Leona Berlin has an entirely recognizable style. She releases her new single, Brighter Day. It probes deeper existential themes. In the song, Leona sings of the groundlessness and lack of anchors that can accompany periods where you no longer have dreams, ambitions or a feeling of significance. Rather than dramatizing this vulnerable condition through her vocals and the arrangement, Leona maintains a strangely calm and neutral tone that reveals acceptance even as she describes standing on the edge of madness.
This subtle and nuanced message cuts beneath superficial meanings to communicate a bittersweet joy and solace to those who frequently contemplate life’s profound questions regarding reality and purpose.
While many artists tend to stick to tried and true formulas, Leona has proven herself as one willing to break the rules and take risks. She continues to contradict preconceived notions about what R&B sounds like. Check out Brighter Day below!
