Guilty by rising singer/songwriter Lily Lyon delivers a funky, disco-inspired pop sound with a vintage flair and a glimpse of where soul music may be headed. The song explores feeling guilty because someone else has developed romantic feelings for the person you’re dating, even though logically you know you have done nothing wrong. When you can understand how it feels to want someone who doesn’t want you in return, it’s hard not to empathize with the person now in that unrequited position.
Dealing with love triangles and the emotions they stir up is tricky. Lily Lyon captures that complexity well. It shows that matters of the heart are rarely simple and often involve shades of gray. Check out the track below!
