Finnish artist Sulevin Uni, also known as Juuso Nousiainen, released his highly anticipated second album, Going Nowhere. Building upon the themes and sonic landscapes explored in his debut, this project probes even further into the rising star’s personal struggles and existential musings. With raw honesty and poetic lyricism, Sulevin Uni confronts the darkest moments of life head-on, laying bare the anguish and turmoil that often follow the search for purpose. Yet, amidst the darkness, there’s a glimmer of hope – a recognition that true freedom can be found in embracing the inherent meaninglessness of existence.
Opening track Lost in the System sounds like something David Bowie would make. I like how the guitar elements maintain their foundation and keep having a steady wave that never fades. Compelling, moody lyrics accompany the musical background and singing. Who Are You contemplates identity and self-perception. It almost begs for you to ask yourself questions. ADE has a more empowering vibe, giving way to some highs as it doesn’t want to descend into lows. Pineal Grand ventures into folk territory, but with a sharp rock edge. And yes, you read that correctly. The song explores the possibility of expanding consciousness, encouraging you to view the world from a broader, more liberating perspective.
Going Nowhere includes three tracks in Finnish: Mielikki, Aika Ajaton, and Kaunein. They take traditional influences into account. Oh, and even without understanding the lyrics, you’ll be able to feel the spirit behind these tracks. No worries!
In a world where conformity and commercialism often rule, Sulevin Uni provides an authentic source of artistic integrity. Check out Going Nowhere below!
