Singer/producer urfriendgrace releases Sweet Tart Ropes. The song mentions her solitary time for reflection and self-acceptance. A lot of artistry is learning to just sit quietly, to really look within and get comfortable in your own skin. It’s not always easy, but it’s so valuable. And once you can do that, once you can truly accept and love yourself, then you’re ready to share that with the world.
That’s what Sweet Tart Ropes tries to stresses. It’s urfriendgrace embracing all the ups and downs that made her who she is today and deciding to have fun with it. The lyrics are playful and carefree, but they come from a place of hard-won self-knowledge.
I love the production here. The beat sounds so bouncy, and it really kicks into high gear during the second half – it’s like a tree blooming in Spring. And the vocals are on point too, they’ve got that precise vibe and energy to match the instrumental.
