Multilingual, multinational worldpop superstar-in-waiting Raissa has the music scene on lock. She releases her debut EP Cute Threat along with the title track. It’s all about asserting independence, self-worth, and standing up to those who try to control or diminish you. The line “I’m not your baby baby, Don’t listen to nobody, You’re not the boss of me” emphasizes the need of asserting personal boundaries and not succumbing to external pressures or expectations.
Cute Threat features effervescent electronic textures that coalesce into a sugary, confectionary-inspired sonic backdrop. The chorus employs an intricate layering technique, which certainly works. The vocals show a conviction and playfulness in keeping with the general musical tone.
