Laura Elizabeth Hughes’ new single Swear to God really resonates with me. It’s all about that feeling of searching for a truly comfortable home, and then unexpectedly finding it in the most unlikely of places. But even when you do find that feeling of belonging and light in your life, there’s always this nagging fear in the back of your mind that it could be ripped away from you at any moment.
Swear to God possesses an organic, raw sound – super intimate but also kinda chaotic, if you get what I mean. It’s like a tug-of-war between tenderness and looseness. The verses are delicate, featuring acoustic guitar, while the chorus introduces tribal-esque rhythms that emerge unexpectedly. It’s a stark yet powerful contrast.
