Rising star Alicia Campbell makes music from the heart. She shares her new song, Recognize, along with her debut EP, Bathing in Watercolor. It was written during a solo road trip through Maine. The lyrics touch upon themes of nostalgia, aging, and the passage of time as Alicia reflects on the years that have passed and the changes she has undergone. There’s an air of wistfulness and reflection as she contemplates her past and her present.
The vocals were recorded in one take, originally as scratch vocals, but Alicia liked them and decided to keep them. Smart move, right? Her delivery on Recognize is straight up impressive. But it’s not just the vocals that bring the warmth – the cozy guitar melodies and experimental sonic textures take it to another level too. That whole track is a whole mood.
