Lefuturewave is a music blog based in the Netherlands. We feature emerging as well as established artists.
Last January, ILIRA decided to ditch the major labels and chart her own course. She no longer felt the need to constantly be tied to bubblegum pop and dance music. A new direction was desirable for her. That’s why she chose for a more alternative style, free of limitations, where she can be as creative as she wants to be.
With her single Floating with the Sharks, ILIRA reflects on her time in the major label world and how it changed her over time. The sincerity just radiates from it – you can really hear she feels at home. Of course, you can only encourage that. Especially when you hit the 1:55 mark and realize how nice the run is.
