Singer-songwriter Joy Marles releases her new single, Habits, featuring Melissa McMillian. It has experimental R&B production alongside jazzy and pop tones. I absolutely adore how things play out here, perhaps a bit slowly, but it definitely works. You can’t help but cheer for aspects such as the strings. The vocals, of course, sound delightful.
Marles wrote Habits during a really tough period. She dealt with decision paralysis in a bunch of different life areas. Making certain choices felt super scary because she didn’t want society or her family putting labels on her. And on top of that, she wasn’t even sure how she felt about all these new parts of herself that she was discovering and exploring.
Marles chooses creativity over commerce. Habits breathes unique energy in and out. Check it out below!
