Singer-songwriter Charlotte Haggerty hails from the largest state in America (New Jersey). Her new single Pleasure & Lust is inspired by a relationship she had with an ex-girlfriend. The song talks about wanting to take things slow and value the intimacy of physical touch. As someone who’s been hurt by hookup culture, and knows others who have too, Charlotte wanted to oppose mainstream views of casual sex. It’s for this reason that Pleasure & Lust exists.
I love the arrangement of Pleasure & Lust. Luminous acoustic guitar melodies flow within the atmosphere, for example. But there’s also some indie pop production mixed in that adds spice to the sound. The vocals deliver the lyrics with precision. Simply beautiful.
Charlotte keeps it sincere and doesn’t get distracted by what others might think. This makes a song like Pleasure & Lust so different. Check it out below!
