Neev, a Glasgow-born singer-songwriter, writes beautiful songs that resonate quickly. She releases her new single, My Own Back. It explores female rage, taking inspiration from the powerful and often misunderstood female characters in literature and mythology. After seeing a production of Medea in London during the summer of 2023, Neev became super fascinated by the cultural significance of Medea as a female anti-hero.
My Own Back has cinematic instrumentals that rise like phoenixes and flow in and out. I really like how the vocals stay grounded and have certain traits to them that differentiate them from others. In general, fascinating stuff.
Neev does a great job mixing poetry and music in this piece, so bravo to her. Check out My Own Back below!
